COME IN TO ME

Jesus gave Peter the keys
To the kingdom
I wonder how many keys
Does he need

I suppose there's a key
For the heart that is greedy
To open it up
To be giving instead

And there must be a key
That is needed to open
The heart that is bitter
From despair and dread

And the many hearts
That are shackled and rusted
And crusted with envy
And unbelief
Need keys to unlock them
To the light and the promise
Of love and salvation
From death and grief

But no key is needed
For the heart of Jesus
It's as open to all
As an unlocked door

Even so, you should knock
And ask to enter

For your welcome from Him
Will be far more dear
If you hear His voice
Say, "Come in, I am here."

And once you are home
In the bosom of Jesus
Nothing can take you
Or snatch you away
And the light and the glory
Of all that is holy
Will rapt you in splendor
Of eternal day
